Day 2: Water & Pollution

Today we discussed the relationship beween Water Temperature and DO levels. Temperature of water bodies is important because organisms exist within a defined temperature range. Since water temperature affects dissolved oxygen concentrations in a body of water, we also discussed how fluctuations in DO levels can affect a lake's ecosystem. We also discussed dissolved oxygen levels at different times of day, seasons, and depths.

Pollution caused by humans can have very negative affects on lakes, streams and oceans. Pollution can directly affect the water temperature (increase water temperature) and affect life in the body of water. Organisms prosper and reproduce within a certain temperature range. If warm water is added to this body of water, temperatures increase and the life of the organisms will change...
